DESIGN DIRECTION

Defining a design direction

I helped the team define a design direction based on the company mission, usage goal and target audience.

Streamlined

Distilling data to its essential elements, and creating an easy to approach way forward for better user understanding.

Personalised

Engaging and relating to users on the application to bring in the delight factor for everyday tasks that are performed

Assertive

Prioritizing clarity, impactful and quick to read visualizations, empowering users to extract meaningful insights.

Conducted testing to understand the

best colour usage for the application

We conducted a quick internal testing to understand the usage of dark solid colours versus a white based background, keeping in mind various factors that involve more than 80% of users use the appllication outdoors, which could be under harsh sunlight conditions.

We tested the screens internally with the team using an iPad and taking note of the visibility at different hours of the day and in varying degrees of sunlight.

Setting the development guidelines and a systematic design approach

We set components and style elements at the beginning of the project to ensure a seamless approach towards building designs for the application, despite the large teams working on both our side as well as the client's design team.

Ensuring Cross Device Compatibility

Keeping in line, the design direction we strived to maintain a streamlined approach not only in terms of content, but also experience across different devices to ensure easy access to despite the mobility and outdoor conditions that the users are used to while performing tasks on the application

PERSONALISATION

Launch page personalisation

We designed the launch page to reflect season and event specific updates to help sales leaders stay on top of store related needs that may come up during that time period.

DATA VISUALISATION

Converging and Diverging palettes

We defined a converging and diverging palette inspired by IBM's way of treating colours for data visualisation across different products and devices. Using such a palette for data visualization in a dashboard offers a balanced approach by using a range of colors that transition smoothly from one end of the spectrum to another, aiding in depicting data trends, contrasts, and relationships more effectively.

CONCLUSION

We redesigned the dashboard which was then released as the beta version within their team internally and tested on the client end. We also provided a complete style guide and component library that could easily be scaled.
